another year flies by
every year when my birthday comes round, i allow myself to become a little self-centered. it’s the one time of the year i get to celebrate myself and do things for myself guilt-free.
i finally took this opportunity to purchase some much needed clothing, new jeans, some shirts, some shoes. and i’ve also bought myself a new phone.
i originally went for the samsung d807, which i thought was neat in design and different from the sony ericsson’s i’ve been used to these past couple of years. but when i got home, i was disappointed to find out that it doesn’t sync up with my mac, and i was having problems trying to send vcards to my phones in order to transfer contacts from my address book.
suffice to say, i really wanted a phone to sync up to my contacts AND calendar. so i decided to return it today. in no time, i switched over to the sony ericsson w600i, which in my opinion is far greater in functionality. like the d807, this one has a 1.3 megapixel camera, but unlike the d807, this one comes with a little light that will light up in darker rooms.
it’s not like i’ll use my phone to take any real photos, but at least the quality will be slightly better for those moments where something comes along and in an instant, i can take photos from my camera and post them to my blog. and that you can’t do with a digital camera. unless they have phones now where you can plug your camera into it and upload photos to the web.
ah, but aside all that, the mp3 player is nice, although i doubt it’ll get much use, and the FM radio might be kind of cool to have.
but aside from all of my material indulgence this year, the boyfriend gave me the best gift of all. instead of bringing me to watch superman fly, he brought me to the skies. he surprised me by reserving a tour on a bi-plane out in livermore and we flew around some great canyons down in the south bay. at first i was a little reluctant to feel excited, overwhelmed by an old fear of heights (that i’ve had to conquer repeatedly in high school rockclimbing trips, only to have it return every year/trip), but once we were on the plane and up in the air, i was able to relax for (most of) the trip.
i’ve always been fascinated by bi-planes and the era they come from. it was an incredible experience! i was a bit shaken up from my own fears and anxiety, but overall, i was happy to be up there! i recommend this to anyone!
i have lots of photos, and i’ll post them up soon. in the meantime, look to the skies!
